WEEK 10 HOMEWORK:
     ---  Interval Minutes - (1 Easy; 7 Hard) x 5 Repetitions

---  4 days again this week...this extra 4th day is an optional 30-min "easy pace" workout.

TOPIC: Striding Wear for Warmth and Visibility - our own Kelly Chandley talked about dressing for the weather and for visibility. Kelly and mentors showed us some ideas for dealing with cooler and variable weather and the darker mornings and evenings ahead. The key for weather is layering so that you can start off on a cool morning with lots of layers but as you warm up start to remove some of those layers, wrapping that extra shirt around your waist or putting your hat in your pocket. Being visible to cars and pedestrians can be accomplished through reflective gear such as reflective vests or straps and/or by attaching lights on your front and your back. Cooler, wet weather or darkness won't stop you from your routine striding schedule when you have the right clothing and accessories to keep you warm and safe.

GRAND STRAND RUNNING CLUB MEMBERSHIP SHIRTS:  If you have not picked up your shirts for all "first-time" GSRC members yet, please see Jane on stage before or after the workshop.

Only 2 more workshops left.  You are doing great, Striders!  Keep it up!

Jane and your mentors

P.S.  MARK YOUR CALENDAR:  Plan ahead for a longer workshop completion time to celebrate!

*** November 9th (next week) - First Strides NMB Graduation Celebration - This night will run longer timewise than most nights so please plan ahead.  We will distribute graduation shirts to those of you that have attended "at least" 8 of our 12 workshops.  Most of you are well on your way to "earning" your 8 night attendance already and we still have 2 weeks left. GREAT JOB!

*** November 16th (last week) - First Strides NMB 5K Stride (Walk & Run) under the lights of the North Myrtle Beach Great Christmas Light Show! This is our 12-week goal, to be able to do an official 5K event (3.1 miles). 5K distance will probably take between <30 minutes to about 1 hour.  Median time last year was about 45 minutes.  Please plan for a longer evening to help cheer fellow Striders past the Finish Line!  Again this session, our sister First Strides Brunsco Workshop (Brunswick County) participants are going to join us for our final accomplishment!
