Week 10:  May 6th - May 12th

Dear First Striders,

You're on the "Short List"!
You are one of 50 participants who have been responding to the Attendance Challenge.  You have already reported enough homework weeks that you can still reach the magic number of eight of twelve weeks of First Strides homework on your own ... Good for you!  Checking in to today's email is reporting your 9th week's homework.  We know all of you haven't been able to finish all 9 weeks, but you can still get to the needed 8 weeks.  Keep it up!

WEEK 10 WORKOUT (May 6 - May 12):  1 Easy minute; 7 Hard minutes x 5 repetitions. Always warmup and cool down.  4 days this week.

Again, you do not need to do all 4 days.  If you do, make sure the 4th day is an easy 30-minute walk/run at a comfortable pace that you can sustain, even if it's hot ... so you may need to slow your pace even more.  Intersperse your 3 rest days between workout days.  Either 3 days or 4 days homework counts as credit.

ATTENDANCE CREDIT CHALLENGE:  For those of you able to complete our 3 (or 4) homework sessions this past Week 9 (April 29 - May 5), please REPLY to this email with the following sentence:

"(First & Last name) completed 3 (or 4, choose one) sessions in Week 9."

Get-Together:  We are proud of you all!  Pencil in 6:00 pm Wednesday, May 20th for a "social distancing" get-together to celebrate those who have completed 8-12 weeks of homework.  Maybe we'll do an informal "Challenger Crew 5K Stride" (3.1 miles) for fun!  Nothing formal or sanctioned.

Our postponement to the Fall:  If you haven't responded to the choices you have about moving your workshop registration to the Fall workshop, you can find the options on (until mid-June).  Or check your old email from 4/5/2020 at 1:26pm to respond.  Let us know your choice, when you know.

You all have done well to keep up the training program without the support of other Striders and our mentors.  That shows good discipline in this difficult time for our world.

We are proud of you!

Jane and your mentors
