Week 9 Email

It’s already Week 9 and your week-to-week progress is evident. Give yourself a high five!

GRADUATION SHIRTS EARNED:  Congratulations to those who earned their Graduation shirt this week…attending at least 8 of 11 weeks!  That’s quite an accomplishment. We’ll do graduation next week at which time those who have earned their First Strides tee shirt will be recognized.

WEEK 9 HOMEWORK:

Start with warm up stretching
5 minute warm up
Then 6 repetitions of the EASY/HARD Interval Minutes1 minute easy, 5 minutes harder
1 minute easy, 5 minutes harder
1 minute easy, 5 minutes harder
1 minute easy, 5 minutes harder
1 minute easy, 5 minutes harder
1 minute easy, 5 minutes harder
5 minute cool down
End with cool down stretching

     ---  How often?  4 days again this week!

TOPIC: Dr. Sperling, a Primary Care Physician from McLeod, spoke about how regular exercise and diet, typically a Mediterranean-style diet (lean meats, lots of vegetables, low carbohydrates), and limiting process food intake help in preventing and managing chronic diseases.

Amanda Pec talked about Relay for Life of the Grand Strand Presented by Gay Dolphin and Tidelands Health, May 4, 2024 3pm at Valor Park at Market Common. For more information, check out Amanda's Facebook post in the First Strides group.

Next week (Week #10 - May 2nd)

First Strides NMB Graduation Celebration - This night will run longer time-wise than most nights so please plan ahead.  After our workout, we will distribute graduation shirts to those of you that have attended "at least" 8 of our 11 workshops.  Great job!

 Last week (Week #11 - May 9th)

First Strides NMB 5K Stride (Walk & Run). This is our goal, to be able to do an official 5K event (3.1 miles) on our last evening together at the Sports Park. Please plan for a longer evening to complete your own 5K and to help cheer fellow Striders across the Finish Line! Everyone’s a winner!

We invite everyone to join us, even if you haven’t been able to attend 8 weeks.
